This double-degree Master's course entitled "International Master in Interdisciplinary Ethics" (currently being validated) combines the European Centre for Ethics Education and Research (CEERE) of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Strasbourg (and its partner faculties) on the one hand, and the Faculty of Theology on the other hand, with the Centre for Ethics of the University of Freiburg.
In addition to the general skills of the Master's degree in Ethics, this course will place greater emphasis on the competence of intercultural argumentation, in three languages (En, Fr, De) thanks to :
- Courses divided as follows: 1st semester (autumn semester) in Strasbourg; 2nd semester in Freiburg im Breisgau; 3rd semester common to both universities and open to courses and seminars from all Eucor universities - The European Campus; 4th semester, at the student's choice, in Strasbourg or Freiburg im Breisgau.
- And one international seminar per semester (semesters 1 to 3) organised jointly by Freiburg im Breisgau and Strasbourg, in French-German-English, and held alternately in the two cities.
- A priority for English courses in the first semester in Strasbourg in order to promote the integration of all students and to allow the learning of French or German for the non-native language.
The training is based on the acquisition of fundamental and in-depth knowledge in ethics and in the various fields of applied ethics. It will focus on the following competencies from an international and intercultural perspective:
- Ability to master and use knowledge of ethics
- To conduct a critical analysis of normative and axiological evaluation
- To reflect on contemporary values, norms and issues, in both their historical and cultural dimensions.
- To build ethical reasoning and conduct ethical argumentation
- To develop the faculties of judgment, discernment and ethical reasoning.
- To build an ethical deliberation for decision-making
- To raise awareness of research ethics and integrity.
